Bruton: Massive Games Are The Reason You Get Involvedby Cork Sports News March 23, 2019
Avondale manager, Ken Bruton, has played in some important games during his playing days but he will get to experience the biggest game of his life from the sidelines tomorrow morning as Avondale Utd and Rockmount go head to head for the right to meet Crumlin Utd in this years FAI Intermediate Cup final at the Aviva Stadium.
“I think both sides will go for it and why not with such a big prize for the winners, we’re expecting a real derby type atmosphere with plenty of bite in every tackle,” said Ken.
You can’t emphasise how big a game it is and Bruton is hoping his players can control any tension and use it to their benefit.
“It’s a massive game for both clubs and we’ve gone a few years now without any success in this competition, Massive games are the reason you get involved in the game so of course there will be nerves so it’s all about controlling and directing that nervous energy in a positive way,” said Bruton.
Both groups of players are highly talented and there is plenty of experience on either side and Ken feels the good feeling in their squad will get them past Rockmount.
“We have a fantastic squad with extremely committed and mentally strong guys.
“We’ve been lucky to add a few quality players to the squad each year since I have been involved which means that competition for places is tough.
“However, the lads understand that competition pushes everyone to the next level and without that you can’t be successful.
“Everyone is in it together and hopefully that togetherness will get us over the line,” concluded Ken.
