Byrnes: We Will Stick To Our Game Planby Cork Sports News December 1, 2018
The Fairfield is the place to be this weekend as Bohemians welcome Dublin giants, Crumlin Utd in the FAI Junior Cup.
It’s a massive step up in class for the Cork club who have been in decent form recently and club captain, Anthony Byrnes is looking forward to their biggest game to date.
“I’ve been with Bohemians for about six years and am the proud captain of this team.
“This season started slow for us but we have gone on a serious good run lately in all cup competitions which has brought us this far and a meeting with a top side like Crumlin.
“We are all looking forward to it and we should see a large attendance supporting us and hopefully we can give Crumlin lots to think about,” said Byrnes
Crumlin are a huge club with a professional approach and it is no fluke they have produced some big names in the game including Robbie Keane and Byrnes reckons they have what it takes to give a good account of themselves.
“It’s obviously the biggest game in our history and we will give them the respect that a club like that warrants but once they cross the white line, all bets are off and we will go all out to get the result.
“Ireland legend, Robbie Keane, started there and they have a good academy up there so it shows what we are up against.
“We obviously expect a tough game but I’m confident our boys will give as good as they get.
“We’ve upped the intensity at training a little in recent weeks but we are sticking to our game plan as it’s working at the moment for us and lets see will it get us through to the next round and bring us a step closer to FAI Cup glory.” concluded Anthony.
Anthony Byrnes was speaking to Paul Hogan for Cork Sports News ahead of Saturday’s match which has a 2pm kick-off at the Fairfield.
