City Wanderers Look To Claim AOH Cupby Cork Sports News May 30, 2019
City Wanderers have already achieved so much this season but the icing on the cake will be tonight when they step out at Turner’s Cross to contest the AOH Cup final.
Manager, Noel Kennedy is fully aware of the task ahead but is quietly confident they can upset the odds.
“Its a massive achievement for all at the club, playing in our first AOH Cup final.
“I am very proud of all the lads who have worked so hard over the year and commited so much.
“We fully deserve our place in the final defeating some big names along the way,” said Noel.
The loss to UCC in the Corinthian’s Cup Final last week was not ideal preparation but Kennedy and City Wanderers have put that behind them.
“The loss to UCC was a big disapointment and we know we can play a lot better.
“The scoreline did not reflect the preformance and but for a few poor decisions from the officials in the second half the game could have been so different.
“We watched the game back and worked on the things we need to do better.
“We are the underdogs but I think that suits us better as no one expects us to win outside of the City Wanderers circle.
“We are a confident side and anyone who has watched us over the last number of years will know on our day we can beat anyone.
“This will be our fifth visit to Turner’s Cross in the last three seasons so that will not faze us.
“If we turn up on the night and play our game we will be in with a great shot at winning the cup.
“Preparations have gone well, most of the squad is fit and ready.
“Declan O’Donaghue and Daniel Murphy are two big losses on the night due to injury and travel commitments but we believe in the lads that are coming in,” concluded Noel.
