Collins: We Are Well Up For The Battleby Cork Sports News October 17, 2019
Midleton make the trip to Rockmount Park tomorrow night to take on Rockmount in a mouth-watering FAI Intermediate Cup tie.
Two teams with ambitions of challenging to win the coveted trophy but one will bow out at an early stage.
Midleton captain, Gary Collins is well used to trips to Rockmount Park and despite acknowledging how difficult a tie it will be, he believes they can go and do themselves justice.
“Yes, I would have to agree with you on that, it’s always a tough place to go and get a result but most of us have played there before and are well up for the battle that lies ahead of us on Friday night.
“We had a change in the management set up but the team is more or less the same adding one or two to the squad.
“We had a slow start as far as we’re concerned but we are getting there.
“We have three wins on the bounce and that brings great confidence and belief that we can win games and challenge for trophies this season,” said Gary.
Collins was named captain this season and he is delighted to take on the responsibilities that come with that.
“As captain, first of all, I was very proud to be named captain this year.
“I have a lot to learn but who better to learn from then Kevin Murray who is always great to help, it’s very important that I motivate the boys on the pitch and help us to succeed in games.” concluded Collins.
