Munster Senior League Division 1
Park United 4 Leeds AFC Cork 1
By Eoin Donovan
Goals from Ger O’Neil, Shane Cahill and a brace from Dylan Connolly secured all three points for Park in Mitchelstown.
The away team started the brighter of the teams with Jonathan Creamer having a one on one saved by the Park keeper in the first minute and Chris Coleman shooting just wide inside the area in the shortly afterwards.
Creamer had another good opportunity to open the scoring in the sixth minute when he tried his luck from the halfway line as the Park keeper was off his line but his effort went just wide of the near post.
The opening half of this league fixture had Leeds well on top only to be let down in the final third as nothing was sticking and couldn’t break the deadlock meaning the teams went into the interval on level terms.
The game became more physical in the second half with the visitors continuing where they left off as they had very good chances from Jordan Murphy and David Linehan.
They eventually opened the scoring in the 63rd minute when Chris Coleman slotted home superbly past the visiting keeper into the bottom corner of the net.
However, this lead was short lived as Ger O’Neil equalised just two minutes later getting the better of Leeds keeper, Eddie Scanlon in the 65th minute.
This goal gave the hosts a huge boost and they went ahead for the first time in the game when Shane Chaill slotted home in the 71st minute.
Park then added another goal just 10 minutes later when Dylan Connolly saw his effort hit the back of the net in the 81st minute.
The hosts then put the game to bed just three minutes later when Connolly added his second and Park’s fourth in the 84th minute as they ran out convincing winners in the end.
