Robinson: All Is Going To Plan So Far

by November 3, 2019

Two unbeaten records were on the line last Friday night when Mayfield Utd took on Castleview and it was Mayfield that emerged victorious to continue their 100% record.

Manager of Mayfield, Craig Robinson was delighted with how it transpired.

“To be honest, I was only worried about our own record and that’s what we maintained.

“There were two different styles on show, we played attractive football and had the majority of possession.

“Castleview were more direct and tried to catch us on the break and overall it was played at a very high pace and a great watch,” said Robinson.

Seven wins out of seven have put Mayfield in pole position to return to the top flight and they are going about it in a ruthless fashion.

“Yes we set our goal high at the beginning of the season and so far all is going to plan.

“We are taking it one game at a time and always looking to improve each week.

“We might be top but we still feel the squad has more to give,” commented Craig.

Only a big drop in form will see Mayfield come back to the rest now and you feel Craig is already putting in place the structures for Premier Division football next season.

“The quality of players is fantastic and the competition for places to get into the squad each week is phenomenal.

“Each week not only have we a difficult job to pick the starting 11 but also the squad of 18.

“It’s very hard on the eight lads left out each week but they then challenge to make the squad the following week.

“The quality of players in the dressing room each week are premier standard and that’s to aim to have them back playing in the premier league next year.” concluded Robinson.
